Richmond Pullman: "Betahtakin" Class Observation Cars rebuilt with blunt end.

In 1954 the six "Betahtakin" class observation cars assigned to the Santa Fe Chief were brought into the shops for a major rebuild. The streamline swallow tail lounge ends of the cars were squared off to allow the cars to operate mid-train. The cars also received 41-CDO-11 outside swing hanger trucks with Budd disc brakes. After rebuilding the cars were re-assigned to the new San Francisco Chief and operated behind the diner and ahead of the Pullmans.
